A. Definisi

What is caption ?  Apa Caption itu ? Saya percaya kalian semua pernah membuat caption. Caption 

sangat banyak digunakan di  media sosial. 

Caption adalah kata,  kalimat,  teks singkat yang menjelaskan/, menggambarkan, atau menambah 

informasi tentang sebuah gambar/, grafik, maupun tabel.  Apabila  hanya ada gambar, grafik, 

maupun tabel tanpa penjelasan akan menimbulkan makna yang kurang jelas bahkan makna yang 

beragam. Maka diperlukan caption agar jelas maknanya dan tujuan gambar tersebut. 

B. Letak

  Letak caption secara umum berada dibawah gambar. Namun bisa juga  diatas , maupun disamping  

gambar, grafik, ataupun tabel.

D. Syarat Caption

Caption sebaiknya ringkas, menarik, dan mudah dipahami. 

E, Jenis - jenis Caption 

• Identification

         Caption yang hanya menjelaskan siapa atau apa yang ada di gambar tersebut.

• Cutline

          Caption yang menjelaskan siapa atau apa , dan apa yang terjadi.

•  Summary

        Caption yang menjelaskan siapa/apa, apa yang terjadi, kapan, dimana, dan keterangan detail                   

       lainnya.

• Expanded

         Caption yang berisi info pada jenis caption summary, ditambah penjelasan bagaimana peristiwa               

         pada gambar itu terjadi. 

• Quote

        Caption yang berisi ucapan seseorang  , kadang juga terkait gambat atau foto.
