CAUSE AND EFFECT (SO...THAT and SUCH....THAT)

A.. Pengertian SO  dan SO....That

    So termasuk dalam keterangan tingkatan ( Adverb of degree). Misal kita ingin mengatakan 'Siti       cantik' : Siti is beautiful, tapi saat ingin mengatakan siti begitu cantik ( Siti is so beautiful). Berarti siti tidak sekedar cantik, tapi begitu cantik. Jadi arti dari So disini begitu. Yang akan kita pelajari disini So berpasangan dengan that ( so....that). Artinya (begitu.....sehingga)Misalnya : 

1. Siti begitu cantik sehingga banyak anak jatuh cinta padanya.

    Siti is so beautiful that Many boys fall in love with her.

    Apa sebab banyak anak jatuh cinta pada Siti ?

    Siti begitu cantik , akibatnya apa ?

   cantik menjelaskan kata apa ? Menjelaskan kata siti, Siti orang, seperti benda, maka cantik disebut   

2. Joko berlari begitu cepat sehingga dia jadi pemenang.

    Joko ran so fast that he became winner.

   Yang fast apanya ?  atau fast menjelaskan kata apa ?Larinya kan ? Karena fast menjelaskan lari(            verb), kata kerja, maka fast disebut     adverb. karena so fast apa akibatnya? Kok bisa jadi winner apa     sebabnya ? coba dijawab.

 Jadi ditengah so....that boleh diberi adjective( kata sifat), maupun adverb ( kata keterangan ). 

B. Pengertian Such, dan Such....that.

     Such artnya begitu, atau demikian. 

     Such....that artiya demikian.....sehingga. 

     Antara such dan that harus ada kata sifat dan benda, 

    Misalnya : 

1, Tina is diligent .  She gets the best score every year.

 @ Tina is such diligent student  that she gets the best score every year. 

      Tina murid yang demikian (begitu) rajin sehinga dia mendapat nilai terbaik tiap tahun.

      Apa yang kamu tahu tentang Tina ?

      Mengapa kira kira kok dia mendapat nilai terbaik?

2.  Tono is friendly boy.  Many people like him.

     @ Tono is such friendly boy that many people like him.

Contoh dialog: 

 Andi    : Do you know mr. Herman,  Dave ?

Dave    : Surely . He is very friendly person.Many people like him.

Andi    : You are right. Mr Herman is so friendly that many people like him.

Dave   : I have ever gone to his house. He has very beautiful surrounding although his house is simple. 

              I felt at home staying there.

Andi    : Yeach.....Mr. Herman has such beautiful surrounding that you feel at home.  

              How about going there someday ?

Dave    : It's good idea. We need to make schedule, then. 

Combining  sentences into so....that and such.....that.    

1. Sonny spoke very clearly. I could understand what he was talking about.

•     Sonny spoke so fast that I could understand what he was talking about.  

2. Mrs. Winda is very discipline teacher. Many students are proud of her.

• Mrs. Winda is such discipline teacher that many students are proud of her.

3. Manchester United is very excellent football team. It becomes international champion many times. 

• MU is so excellent that it becomes international champion many times.
• MU is such an excellent football team that it becomes international  champian many times.

Completing sentences with So  , so...that, Such, or Such....that.

1. Gerry is.......happy that he cries.
2. The Soto is so delicious........I want to eat more..
3. Tigers are ..... wild animal.......Most people are afraid of them.
4. Dery  is..... energetic boy that he is seldom sick.
5. This test is.....easy that many students get good score.
